Dry Suit Diver

Some of the world's best diving is in waters that are a bit chilly - from the well-preserved shipwrecks of the Great Lakes to the spectacular marine life of the Pacific Northwest. Dry suits can make diving more enjoyable any time water temperatures drop below the mid 70’s and become essential in waters below 60°F. You can now enjoy deeper wreck diving, longer dives and extend your diving season.

Deep Six Specialists, Inc. rents top-quality DUI dry suits to qualified divers, making dry suit diving affordable for everyone (though most people eventually do invest in their own personal dry suit).

This course provides training in the use of dry suits to become familiar and comfortable with controls and buoyancy characteristics along with your thermal protection options.

Dry Suit Lecture – During this academic session the student will be fitted into dry suit thermals, a dry suit and rock boots (if required) along with a hood. The student’s wrist and neck seals will be purchased and cut to size. You will learn the basics of how the system works and review the skills that will be performed on day one of your open water. STUDENT will need to bring their fins to this session to confirm that they will fit with your dry suit.

Open Water Day 1 - The student will complete a minimum of 3 Dry Suit dives, demonstrating the use of suit controls, how to recover from an inverted position, simulated stuck suit valves and how to recover, demonstrate a procedure to compensate for a lost weight system and maintain a minimum volume of air in the suit to prevent suit squeeze.

Open Water Day 2 - The student will complete one dive demonstrating the proper use of a dry suit; as taught on the previous day, during a tour of the quarry.
